Here are the key steps to set up a Trezor hardware wallet for the first time:
Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable. You should see a lock icon on the Trezor's screen and a prompt to go to trezor.io/start.
Go to trezor.io/start in your web browser. This is the official Trezor website for setting up your device. Follow the instructions to install the Trezor Suite software on your computer.
In Trezor Suite, the setup wizard will guide you through initializing your Trezor device. This includes generating a secure 12-24 word recovery seed phrase that you must write down and store safely. This seed phrase allows you to recover your wallet if the device is ever lost or damaged.
You will also set up a PIN code to secure access to your Trezor device. The PIN is entered on the Trezor's screen, not your computer, for added security.
Once set up, you can use Trezor Suite to manage your cryptocurrency holdings, send and receive funds, and access advanced features like Tor integration and coin control.
If you ever need to recover your wallet, you can do so by purchasing a new Trezor device and entering your recovery seed phrase during setup. This will restore access to your funds.
